Stoker is the man who keeps feeding the engine with coal.
Vikram: Look, look! That train is running so fast! What is that wire on top of the train?
Mr.Verma: That is an electric train son. Look there. The signal for our train to come into the station has come down. Stand back from the edge of the platform Vikram.
The train draws up. There is a rush to get into the train.
Mr.Verma: Don’t hurry. Coolie, take our luggage to the first class compartment please. I think it is the fifth carriage from the engine. The Verma family settles down in their compartment.
Vikram: Papa are the engine driver and his helper the only people to run the train?
Mr.Verma: No. Vikram. There are a number of other railway officials on each train. There is a guard who looks after the safety of the passengers. Then, there is a conductor who has a chart and can tell you as to which compartment you can sit in. There are also ticket checker, who asks to see the tickets of all the passengers. There is an attendant with each of the carriages.
The train moves off.
Mrs.Verma: Here we go. I hope the train isn’t going to be late. I’ve brought some brunch. As soon as we get out of Delhi and its suburbs, we’ll have a bite.
Vikram: Mamma, where is our big trunk?
Mrs.Verma: Very big and heavy items are not allowed to be kept in the compartment. So, our trunk has been stored in the luggage van. That is actually Aunt Veena’s trunk which we are taking for her to Ambala.
Vikram: Look papa. That man is waving a green flag
Mr. Verma: Yes, son, that is the signal that it is safe for the train to move off. The guard also blows a whistle to warn the engine driver and the passengers.
Vikram :what’s happened? Mamma papa! It has become as dark as night. Oh, now it is day again. What was that, papa?
Mr.Verma :We just passed through a tunnel, son.
Vikram: I want to sit at the window and watch all the farm houses go by. What fun this is and what pretty sights are to be seen.

It depends on whether you travel by an air-conditioned carriage or by first class or by second. I think perhaps travelling by bus may be the cheapest form of travel.

2 Then why shouldn’t everyone travel by bus.
Response:
When the journey to be under taken is a long one. Then it is more convenient to travel by train. One can lie down and sleep in a train. In a bus one has to sit all cramped up in one position all the time. Moreover railway travel is not unduly expensive either.
